Favoured: The Lord Delights in You Foundation.
The Organisation was formed out of the need to help people living with the dreaded hereditary disease, sickle cell anemia. The major aim of the foundation is to provide the much needed support both medically, financially and emotionally and so on for the patients who have been called warriors in different parlances.
The members of the organization are Doctors, Teachers, Civil Servants and people who are generally passionate about giving a helping hand to those warriors. These warriors are resilient in fighting for their lives. They sometimes need to be transfused with blood and have sometimes developed a lot of complications as a result of the SS/SC genotype.
One needs to understand that they are warriors not by choice but were made so by the incidence of their birth. However, medical science has really advanced and has made it possible for sickle cell patients to live up to ripe old ages as long as they religiously take their prescribed medications, avoid cold, mosquito bites and stressful activities. To this end, Favoured; The Lord Delights in You Foundations seeks to make sure as much as possible that sickle cell patients have access to good health care, provide counselling for them on how to avoid stress and where possible provide them with the much needed medical attention.
In addition, the foundation, will also attempt to give vocational training to sickle cell patients so that they can be empowered and self-sufficient to take care of themselves and be able to afford their medical care.
The foundation will seek the support of family, friends’ doctors, International donors and other Non-Governmental organization to raise funds for the care of the sickle cell warrior patient.
At Favoured, the Lord Delights in You Foundation, we believe that everyone has the right to live a healthy and fulfilling life, regardless of their health status. Our mission is to change the narrative by creating awareness through sensitization programs, advocacy, and community outreach.
